Ema Kilroy is a glass artist living in
Central Massachusetts with her husband and three sons. I have been
involved in the arts all my life. As a child I grew up in a very
artistic atmosphere. My family’s projects range from the making of wool
rugs, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, drawing, oil painting,
tole painting, stained glass and woodworking.
Personally I have worked in ceramics,
drawing, painting, tole painting, quilting and wool felting. Although I
do love to dabble in various mediums I have found my passion in working
with glass. The possibilities are never ending. Working glass in a flame
is an experience like no other. I find such joy in the combining of
metals and glass to see what new creations will emerge each time I sit
at my torch. Sometimes I feel like a mad scientist experimenting, never
exactly sure what the end product will be once the kiln has cooled.
Ema sells her work in the form of beads
and finished jewelry. Ema belongs to the International Society of Glass
Beadmakers (ISGB),
Society of Glass Beadmakers Boston (Boston
SGB), is an Associate Artist at
Rollstone
Studios in Fitchburg, MA, and participates in an online community of
glass bead artists, The
Fire Divas,
who strive to support each other in the development and marketing of
their art. |
