Betsy's passion for art began as a teenager when she first discovered the magic of pastel. Later as an art student at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, her skills were honed in other media as well, but it was not until her children became teenagers that she once again returned to the medium she so loved as a young woman. A move to New Hampshire where she had spent summers while growing up spurred her interest in creating landscapes, and today her focus is on capturing the diversity that is New England. Marshes, streams, fields and forests are all likely subjects among others.
A soft, painterly style is utilized in capturing the essence of the subject matter resulting in colorful, luminous renderings. Each color stands alone in the painting, and the layering of pure color creates a visual, vibrant blending to please the eye.
